Library Life with Omondi

library-quotes-8

As expected, the April 2017 was quite a very busy period for the library staff due to students being holiday. We had a tremendous upsurge of user activities which was great! The number of patrons who visited us during the month of April stands at 9417 which is more than twice of our typical monthly average numbers.  We were fortunate to have the chairs that Post Bank so generously donated to Hatua back in October as we had to made use of them throughout the library in  our arcade hall, corridors and the compound in order to accommodate our users. We could not be more thankful!

Furthermore I would like to share a few notable statistics about the library that I’m particularly proud of:

The April weekly average curriculum books used was 945 vs over the last 7 months having a weekly average of 675

And, the average attendance of the Friday movie shows was 38 compared to 27 which is the weekly figures over the last seven months.

More interestingly, we recorded unprecedented number of children attending our library children’s section from an average of 20 per day to over 60. With the increased user numbers this month we were bound to see the impact on all our programs and the homework helpers program was not left behind. Our gap year students answered a total of 201 questions covering a wide range of subjects from the library users!

Please remember the Hatua Library is a community resources center and is free!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
