Hatua celebrates 68 High School & University Graduates in 2017!

For any family the end of a year is an exciting chapter to close and the same goes for the Hatua Family! We can’t believe our 10th year in operation has come and gone in a blink of an eye. Back in 2007 Hatua was only sponsoring 7 students in high school. Fast forward to the present, in 2017, we’re sponsoring 350 students in high school and university!

As the end of the year is just around the corner, we look forward to celebrating our next round of 49 high school graduates; 37 of whom joined our program in 2014 when they were on the verge of dropping out of school after 8th grade! Could you imagine what your life would be like today if you ended your education after just the 8th grade? Well, neither could these bright young individuals. Despite their families not being able to afford their school fees they took it upon themselves to take the time and effort to apply for a scholarship with Hatua, turning in a thoughtful, honest and thorough application. We were truly blessed to provide these students with the opportunity to continue their education and we are delighted to see them on track to graduate from high school this coming November.

Furthermore, we are at the point in our operations where we will not only be celebrating our new classes of high school graduates each year but we will also be graduating student from university every year! Hatua will have graduated 19 students from university over the past year (in 2017). Increasing Hatua’s alumni to 35 as we enter the new year. These new university graduates will be warmly welcomed into Hatua’s hardworking and determined network of alumni. All of whom have found work within 6months of their university graduation making an average income of $310/month, 4x the amount they would have made if they had been forced to drop out of school after 8th grade.
